Consumer Rights Under Lemon Law

Consumers retain their rights under other laws as the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act does not invalidate or restrict other regulations, state or federal, nor does it supersede the Federal Trade Commission Act. In fact, the Act is not the dominant regulation of consumer product warranties and leaves other laws untouched, giving consumers the best possible protection for every product they buy and leaving all their options open should something go wrong with the purchase.

The only way the federal minimum standards for full warranties can be waived is if the manufacturer or vendor can show that the problem with the product was caused by wilful damage while it was in the possession of the consumer, or by unreasonable use, such as failure to carry out the necessary maintenance.
